Gravity

FAMILY· Marriage· Posts

Each year, I dedicate my April 30th post to the most amazing person I have ever had the pleasure of meeting. The posts document our love, embrace our successes, and allude to our difficulties. Last year, eclipses. The year before, magnets. This year? Gravity.

Gravity (noun) – the force that attracts a body toward any other physical body that has mass.

Two years ago I compared us to magnets… but it’s not enough just to be attracted to one another. Two people in love do not exist in this world alone. There’s a greater force that keeps us all grounded. Gravity keeps us grounded, even when we are currently unaware of its existence. It’s what allows us to stand tall. To move. To not float away. It allows us to jump to feel freedom and land to feel reality. Gravity keeps us close to that which matters. To those who matter. It allows us to exist within boundaries. To fall gracefully. To stand tall again.

It is not known exactly why we experience gravity, but we do. Most things worth knowing are not explainable through words, as even the most brilliantly-written descriptions lack the depth to which emotions are felt and the physical world is experienced.

This year was an easy one. We were grounded. We allowed the gravity we experienced since we flirted on the beach to place us where we need to be with the people who need to be in our lives. We shared incredible experiences as individuals, as a couple, and as a family. We have provided each other with the support to grow from a foundation that we physically experience every moment without having to question why it is there or how it was formed.

Nine years of marriage. Thank you, Richard.
